Welcome to The Go Green Project, where we're committed to making a positive impact on the planet. Here is a list of positive activities you can do to help save the environment.
You can make a difference by helping environmental organizations. Activities such as picking up trash, planting seedlings, helping staff recycling centers, and teaching elementary students about the 3 R’s (recycle, reduce, reuse) all help to save the environment.
Less than 1% of the planet’s water supply is fit for human consumption. So, saving water is a high priority. You can help by taking shorter showers, landscaping your yard with drought-resistant plants, collecting rainwater to irrigate your yard, and washing your vehicle less frequently.
Helping to reforest our national forests, or just planting a tree in your yard is a great way to help the environment. Trees absorb CO2 and produce oxygen. In addition, trees provide valuable habitat for many different species of wildlife.
Turning off the lights when leaving your house or apartment is a simple way to conserve energy. Turning off your air conditioner, heater, and other appliances helps to conserve energy too.
Public transportation saves fossil fuels, reduces pollution, and is a great way to help the environment. You will also save money on fuel, insurance, and maintenance on your personal vehicle.
Most modern laundry detergents work as well in cold water as they do in hot water. Washing your clothes in cold water helps to reduce energy needed to heat the water, and cold water is easier on the fabrics, making your clothes last longer.
Using your personal vehicle less is great for the environment. Not only do you produce less pollution, but you contribute to the environment in many other ways. Your insurance rates will go down because when you drive fewer miles you tend to get in fewer accidents.
A reusable cloth shopping bag is a great way to help save the environment. In most areas, paper bags are no longer available and have been replaced with plastic. You can help reduce the amount of plastic in our landfills by using a cloth shopping bag.
Take the time to help others understand your commitment to saving the environment. Show your co-workers, neighbors, and family members what you are doing to make a difference. Teach your children how to take care of the environment by adopting the 3 R’s (recycle, reduce, reuse), planting trees and volunteering.
